Born in 1961 in Córdoba, Argentina. He studies composition and conducting at the National University of La Plata, Argentina. He then went on to complete his Ph.D. in composition at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He was the recipient of numerous prices, scholarships, and commissions, among others: Forum '91 Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, De Ijsbreker, the Nieuw Ensemble, the Opera of Stuttgart, the Hannoveraner Tage für Neue Musik, the Europäischer Musikmonat, the Ensemble Intercontemporain-IRCAM. 1998/2000/2001 Stipend from ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe). 1995/96 Scholarship from Akademie Schloß Solitude.

As a conductor, after an early start conducting traditional orchestral repertoire, he concentrated on new music. 1990/93 Conductor at CEOB (Center for Experimental Opera and Ballet, Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires). He premiered more than 150 works, ranging from chamber works to opera, collaborating among others with the June in Buffalo Chamber Ensemble, JIB Brass Ensemble, The Instrumental Factor, New York New Music Ensemble, Buffalo Philharmonic, Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, Champ d'Action, Ensemble Resonanz, the Darmstadt Festival, Basel Sinfonietta. He began a long relationship conducting the Thürmchen Ensemble in 1996. He recorded for Mode Records, WERGO, Deutschland Funk, etc.

He taught composition and related studies at the State University of La Plata, Kunitachi College of Music (Tokyo), the State University of New York at Buffalo and at the University of Birmingham, UK. In 2003, he took up the position of professor of composition and head of the Electronic Music Studio at the Basel Musik-Akademie in Switzerland. He died on September 14, 2019 after a serious illness in Basel.
